USF College of Public Health
Tampa, Florida

Course Description

Over 60% of the adult population in Florida is clinically overweight or obese and at risk for obesity-related disorders such as diabetes, sleep apnea, cardiovascular disease, and hypertension. One of the national health objectives for the year 2010 is to reduce the prevalence of obesity among adults to less than 15%. However, healthcare providers face many challenges in implementing the guidelines for obesity treatment. A nationally recognized faculty will provide practical insights and office-based approaches to recognizing and treating obesity and an overview of community-based resources for the prevention of obesity.

Why Attend This Course?

  • The teaching methodology is cutting-edge, offering healthcare providers an innovative approach to the prevention and treatment of obesity.
  • The greatly reduced Registration Fee of $25 for this program is made possible in part by a grant from the State of Florida Department of Health.
  • Selected physicians and providers will have the opportunity to participate and enroll patients in the Florida Prevention of Obesity and related Disorders (ƒPOD) study.
